To take the tour, check in at the reception desk in the lobby of the main building at least 5-10 minutes before 1pm. Tours are limited to the first 60 people. Groups of 10 or more guests are required to mak a reservation in order to guarantee space on the tour. The Taylor Guitars factory tour takes guests through the steps of guitar construction and through the story of 2 local men who built up their dream from a young age. From wood selection to final assembly, guests will eperience each process as a guitar evolves from raw wood to a finished instrument. Employees volunteer to lead the tours, so guests will have a unique perspective from different employees and different departments on each tour, although all guests visit the same areas. While not physically demanding, the tour does include a fair amount of walking and climbing a short flight of stairs. Due to its technical nature, the tour may not interest small children. The tour lasts approximately one hour and fifteen minutes and departs from the main building at 1980 Gillespie Way in El Cajon.
