Join the Fleet Science Center and the San Diego Festival of Science and Engineering for an especially “spirited” event. On Saturday, March 10, some of San Diego’s finest bartenders and local scientists will come together at San Diego’s iconic False Idol to help us understand what it takes to concoct the perfect cocktail. Using fluid dynamics, chemical reactions and physics to create amazing drinks, bartender and scientist will converge in the attempt to dazzle your tastebuds.
The Fleet Science Center, the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute, and San Diego Festival of Science & Engineering are so excited to co-produce the 21+ finale event for Festival Week called: Makers and Mimosas. Grab a glass of bubbles, bring out your inner artist, and mix in a little science. It’s all here for you! Engage with local Makers as you interact and view their beautiful installations and displays. Then take a break to have some breakfast bites and engage in one of our DIY maker-stations which will include take-home items and creations.

Honey Yoga presents Dr. Arezou Ghane as she discusses the neurobiology of gratitude, and the scientifically-backed benefits of a gratitude practice.
No longer just hippy woo-woo talk, science is unlocking the power of gratitude and proving it can increase our well-being and happiness.
After the discussion join us in an all-levels yoga practice, to cultivate and embody gratitude. No prior yoga experience necessary. The yoga portion of the evening will end in a guided meditation and then you'll be super ready for cocktails and questions!
What sounds like the beginning of a rather bad joke is actually a fun community program by the Fleet Science Center. During Two Scientists Walk Into a Bar™, local scientists will enjoy something we all do: a good conversation in a local bar. Join them, and ask them anything you want! They'll be easy to spot. Just look for the sign that reads: "We are scientists. Ask us anything!"
We love hearing the questions being asked and seeing pictures of all the fun, so if you participate, be sure to post on social media, and tag the Fleet and use the hashtag #2scientists.
Marine Science Day is a free showcase of SDSU’s marine lab facility and scientific research for the public, hosted by MEBSA, the Marine Ecology and Biology Student Association.
