Test your knowledge of bridges as our engineers demonstrate the concepts of bridge engineering using scale models built with K'NEX blocks. Visitors will discover how bridges are designed and built and learn how they, too, can become bridge engineers.

The booth will feature a sugar demo that highlights the amount of sugar in popular fruit and sports drinks. The booth will also have activities to help children understand the importance in leading a healthy and active lifestyle.

Math Activities

Quiz on important, local LGBTQ+ figures in STEAM. Giveaways such as pencils, erasures, swag.

Booth will feature mock field biology monitoring activities and other estuary related activities, as well as information on visiting the Tijuana Estuary.

We will review how your body develops immunity with antibodies. Visitors will be able to do antibody puzzles to discuss how they relate to viruses and vaccines. Separately, we will bring a prepared petri dish sealed with bacteria expressing green fluorescent protein (GFP) contained in a dark box. Visitors will shine a UV flashlight on the dish to see the bacteria glow. We will discuss the utility of GFP in immunology research.

The mission of our club is to bring hands-on, brains-on activities to our K-12 community. We will collaborate with other science clubs from USD to bring a range of activities showcasing chemistry, biology, physics, engineering and medical science.
