In honor of its 10th anniversary the CSUSM Physics Department is hosting 1997 Nobel Prize winner Dr. William Phillips. Dr. Phillips’ talk is a lively, multimedia presentation, including exciting experimental demonstrations and down-to-earth explanations.

A closer look at the original rock star of the classical world. Classics 4 Kids will detail the profile of J.S. Bach and how this historical figure continues to influence the music trends of today. Don't just learn about science this week, do it. Regional science efforts throughout San Diego County need your help. Learn about how you can contribute to over 20 local science efforts, while doing things you enjoy. Do science while you hike, surf, read, fish, garden, play online games, and more. Participate in a Wikipedia edit-a-thon and help increase the coverage of women scientists in Wikipedia. Enjoy lectures about how members of the public have made amazing contributions to local research projects. Anyone can help science--find out how at this FREE event.

Fun Science and Art Events at EcoVivarium's Living Museum

Young Scientists Session 6: Crazy Critters. The Young Scientists program is a space for parents and preschoolers to discover the wonders of science together. Be there to see your child get excited about science and spark their desire to continue exploring throughout their life. Topics for this month’s theme include: Feathered Friends, Habitats and Camouflage, Food Chain, Light Up the Night. Each four-week session is held on Thursday, Saturday or Sunday mornings from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and includes access to the Fleet's exhibit galleries. Members $75, nonmembers $85.

Learn and experience STEM through interactive booths run by Sweetwater's own high school students! Interactive booths will include: Science of dry ice, Maker Space wind tunnel, non-Newtonian Slime, Science of Sand and Polymers, and more! In addition, you can see a 3D printer in action, learn how biodeisel is made, play puzzle games, pet some reptiles, see some awesome robots, and much more!

Limit 25 people (18+ only). Are you an educator, tinkerer or craftsman looking to expand your repertoire? Have you been thinking about purchasing the latest Maker tools for you your next project? 3D Printing, CNC, Laser Cutters and more. Examine the options of buying your own equipment or investing in a local maker space membership. This course provides an overview of various Maker tools and technologies, as well as the state of the industry. This course can save you thousands of dollars and hundreds of wasted hours of trying to find the best solution yourself.

Come visit the workshop that your inner 12 year old would love to have attended and see how the STEAM sausage is made! Get ideas on how to implement Laser cutting, 3D printing, Robotics, Virtual Reality and more in the classroom or youth group environment. All ages welcome. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Have you ever wanted to spend an adventurous night in a museum?
On Saturday, March 11th, your Girl Scout is invited to the Fleet Science Center’s Girl Scout Sleepover. She will have the opportunity to explore mind-boggling Illusions, the science behind how human cells are formed, the importance of water conservation and more in our eight interactive exhibit galleries. She will also get to attend two fun, educational workshops, participate in a scavenger hunt, and view an IMAX movie in the Heikoff Dome Theater.

The first Monday of every month, seniors 65 and better can enjoy the Science Center exhibits, a show in the Heikoff Giant Dome Theater and a lecture on the quietest day of the month for only $8!
