Magnolia Science Academy

Magnolia Science Academy is a California Distinguished School. MSA is a public, charter STEAM focused middle school serving San Diego since 2005. Our robotics students and teachers will be engaging guests by allowing them to try coding activities and operate remote controlled Vex IQ robots and even complete a VEX competition challenge!

Elementary Institute of Science

EIS will be partnering with Science Delivered to offer fun, engaging, hands-on activities for children. We will have paper helicopters for children to make and take home. We will have items to demonstrate and represent different STEM fields, such as blocks for engineering, preserved marine specimens, simple chemical reactions, a drone on display, etc.

Society of Women Engineers-San Diego

1. Simple Machines: demo/hands-on teaching of the inclined plane, the lever, & pulley to show how they can make work easier. 2. Power-up with Paper: Using a piece of paper, copper tape, coin battery, and LED's, students learn electrical connections when building their circuit and they get to take home. From our phone convo, we will have middle/high school students and collegiate (from various schools) volunteering as NEAR PEER role models. Thank you for the school scholarship consideration!

Treobytes

A series of STEM related activities will be presented throughout the event. Kids will fly our drones and test their piloting skills with a mini version of our tournament. They will learn about circuits and the components by creating their own pocket LED flashlight. They will learn about 3D printing and engineering design with several hands-on activities.

Sally Ride Science @ UC San Diego

The Sally Ride Science Academy offers fascinating and fun STEAM workshops for students entering grades 3 through 12. Our online and in-person workshops let students investigate coding, acting, space science, marine biology and more, as they immerse themselves in hands-on projects. Top-notch STEAM instructors incorporate real-life stories of vibrant women conducting research in each field inspiring students and making STEAM careers more accessible.

Fleet Science Center

Hands-on science activities for a wide range of ages led by Fleet Science Center staff and volunteers. We will also have information about Fleet programs for in-school, out-of-school, camps, clubs, adults, educators, and children.

Sweetwater Union High School District

Since 2009 Castle Park High students, with Dr. Pomeroy of UCSD, have learned to produce biodiesel from vegetable oil. Our booth demonstrates the step-by-step process of biodiesel synthesis, discusses the advantages of biodiesel over petroleum and outlines the ease of production. Our booth includes CAICE researchers who provide demonstrations concerning climate change and atmospheric chemistry. We also partner with Algenesis who demonstrate biodegradable materials that mimic plastics and foams.
