STEM in Your Backyard brings pocket-sized versions of the popular San Diego Festival of Science & Engineering EXPO Day to neighborhoods all over the county throughout the year. STEM In Your Backyard provides access to free, meaningful STEM experiences by bringing the spark of science directly to communities throughout San Diego.
Part of San Diego Unified's STEAM Leadership Series, Salk Institute Education Outreach will host 300 girls from selected San Diego Unified schools for a morning of discovery with a career panel of successful women in San Diego's thriving biotech industry. Each year the Salk Mobile Science Lab brings 3 days of biotechnology discovery to 20 San Diego area Middle Schools. During Festival Week the lab will be at Mann Middle School. Registration to the event has closed – full to capacity.

This event brings brainiacs from fields such as biology, art, engineering, mathematics and more to the Fleet to enhance the exhibit experience. This is a casual event in the exhibit galleries, not a lecture, so you'll have the chance to chat with the genius and ask questions. Explore themes from our exhibitions in ways that are both insightful and delightful.
Students from Sweetwater Unified High School district invite you to this free community event designed to inspire a love of STEM in people of all ages! Come learn about science and technology through a series of interactive booths! You can learn how a 3D printer works, learn to solder your own circuit, play with a Non-Newtonian slime, hold a snake, build a parachute to test in the wind tunnel, and much, much more!

The Expanding Your Horizons Conference is a unique opportunity for girls in grades 6 through 10 to engage in hands-on workshops in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) led by San Diego’s top scientists, engineers, and specialists. This unique event is designed to foster young girls’ enthusiasm for STEM careers, inform them of professions and opportunities, and encourage them to continue their studies in science and math to reach their goals and objectives.
