AI Robotic Flower:

Saura Naderi, founder of HDSI Lab 3.0 at UC San Diego, invites you to experience AI-driven creativity in action! HDSI Lab 3.0 engages K-12 students across San Diego County with hands-on engineering, data science, and AI-driven educational experiences.

At this booth, explore the AI-Driven Robotic Flower—a responsive installation that blooms with your smile. Using smile recognition technology, a camera detects your expression and determines if you’re smiling. The more you smile, the more the flower blossoms! If you stop smiling, the petals slowly wilt.

Through my art piece, 3D Praxinoscope, guests will have the opportunity to learn about early moving picture devices and the science behind what makes still images appear to move. As an interactive piece, guests may spin the 3D Praxinoscope and view the images come to life! As its name implies, the images use 3D anaglyph stereoscopy to add an illusory layer of depth to flat, two-dimensional images. Guests may utilize provided 3D anaglyph glasses to view the 3D effect.

A variety of digital art from various fields will be on display. From Comic books, Film and Video Games I will provide a live demo using software packages Adobe Photoshop and Clip Studio Paint from all of the listed disciplines.

I will be bringing a laptop and tablet for the event along with art easels to display my work. Greatly appreciate the table that will be provided and if it’s possible to have access to a TV in the Lexus pavilion room, I’ll bring a HDMI cable to output my live demo.

My main mediums are quilting, art quilts, pyrography, and acrylic.
For your event, I'd like to bring 4-5 art quilts, 2-3 quilts (to act as a tablecloth), 1-2 pyrography pieces on bamboo, and a couple of acrylic pieces on canvas. I also have some small materials that could be part of the display to act as conversation starters.
